An illuminated neighborhood for a luminous community
The Old-Montreal looks like a metropolitan postcard in summer and a magical esplanade in winter! It’s thanks to the 3-years investment of 750 000$ from the Ville-Marie borough aiming to restore the lights of the historical neighborhood in winter that the Old-Montreal was able to set up new lighting during Winter 2018-2019. The first phase of the installation, to which the SDC also contributed by giving 150 000$, includes Jacques-Cartier Square along with the streets of Saint-Paul and La Commune. It set up the stage for the second and third phases that will be revealed in 2019 and 2020. Worried about offering quality layouts that are cohesive with the patrimonial and architectural cachet of the neighborhood, the SDC Old-Montreal has participated in establishing the art direction for the new structures. The new lighting arrangements were chosen on the theme of the Tree of Life, which goes together with the existing lighting on Places d’Armes, Place Royale and Frères-Charon Square that were renovated in 2018. This investment by the Ville-Marie Borough and the SDC Old-Montreal will definitely provide the visitors with an appealing and valuable experience during winter.
