Musical brunches in Old Montreal
Brunch and Brahms together on the square
Every July and August weekend from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., SDC Vieux-Montréal (the Old Montreal business development corporation) invites all classical music lovers and new fans of the genre to Place Jacques-Cartier for a series of free chamber music concerts. This musical form, featuring a smaller number of musicians and instruments, was originally designed to be played in front of small audiences, will envelop the public square and its terrasses, turning them into a welcoming amphitheatre. These musical interludes will be an ideal opportunity to meet friends or dates for brunch in the old quarter and savour the good times as they take flight to the rhythm of a metronome.
There will be a novel treat in 2015. Graduating students of Montreal’s major music schools, such as the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal and McGill University’s Schulich School of Music have agreed to join in the programming. In this way, the musical brunch in Old Montreal series provides one more showcase for the city’s greatly talented young musicians.
