A discovery tour of an important archaeological site, to learn about the women of Bon-Secours, from prehistory to the French colonial era.
Starting June 3, a 30-minute guided tour will let visitors to the Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum discover (or rediscover) a unique archaeological site, where they can admire the remains of Montreal’s first stone chapel, along with some very early traces left here by Indigenous people.
The Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum archaeological site shows that Montreal Island was inhabited long before Europeans came here. Visitors of all ages will see how the site was transformed with the arrival of such influential women as Marguerite Bourgeoys and the first women colonists.
