It is Spring of 1715, and soup is reducing in the kitchens of the Château, releasing enchanting essences that bring you back to New France. Claude Maupoint, Mr. Ramezay’s cook, is filling up his cauldrons and preparing a feast worthy of a governor. Are these tales of colonial aromas piquing your curiosity and appetite? Great, because the chef’s back!
Indeed, chef Maupoint invites you for a tour in the heart of Old Montreal, a place where history meets gastronomy. Suivez le chef! is a circuit that will allow you to discover the traditional flavours of our ancestors at select (indoor and outdoor) locations. During this 120-minute stroll, you will also get a chance to learn about important figures in our history as well as admire our impressive architectural heritage. So calling all history buffs, refined pallets and epicurious individuals, fine food explorers, you don’t want to miss out on this!
On today’s menu: much to learn about our history, and much to eat! Enjoy a wide variety of entrées concocted by our restaurant partners who consulted recipes that date as far back as the 18th century: potage à la vierge, 19th-century-style Italian macaroni, ham roasts and maple taffy… How’s that for food for thought?
