Uncover the past of Montreal founders through the eyes of a wicked French journalist, half-collector, half-thief; who has made unique advances in the history of Montreal.

Find out about the life of Léo Leymarie and learn more about his biography by Paul de Chomedey, which was never published because of mysterious reasons…

A documentary thief and sensationalist journalist, he was also a stubborn researcher, who gathered valuable archive documents about the New France. Criticized and condemned for his subtilization of historical documents and their resale -not always legal-, he was tortured by the Nazis at the end of his life, for having served as a forger of the Resistance.

The lecture is given by Sylvain Lumbroso, historian, freelance journalist and member of the Montreal Historical Society. He published a series of exciting articles on the subject in Le Devoir in August.

Free admission.
