Currently in residency at the Darling Foundry, Natalia Lassalle-Morillo invites you to come discover her project Retirement, a documentary and film series that show the process of aging in women ; how their bodies are transformed through time and how these changes affect their outlook on life. This project is based around interviews conducted over the past six months with women over 60 years of age in Puerto Rico, Miami and Montréal. While the first part of the project is documentary based, the second one consists of “video portraits” developed in collaboration with the participants. These portraits aim to reconstruct a memory, event, or particularity of these women’s life through film and focus on capturing the act of remembering.

Natalia Lassalle (b. 1991, San Juan, Puerto Rico) is a theatre maker and filmmaker whose work integrates the disciplines of film, choreography and performance. She received her BFA from the Experimental Theatre Wing at New York University. She has been an Artist-in Residence at Inkub8 Open Space and at the Miami Light Project in Miami, FL, as well as at the Fonderie Darling in Montréal and Lake Studios in Berlin, Germany. Her work has been shown in galleries and venues in Miami, Berlin, New York and Puerto Rico. She is interested in the intersection between live and recorded performances and documentary vs. fictionalized reality.
