Singer-songwriter praised by the critics and public alike, winner of the Prix de la chanson SOCAN (Le nouveau vocabulaire, 2015) and nominated at l’ADISQ, GAMIQ, Prix Félix-Leclerc, L’Espoir FEQ and Canadian Folk Music Awards, Antoine Corriveau redefines himself with each record while imposing his signature sound on everything that he touches. With his polished yet raw music – at times barebone, at times magnified by detailed orchestration – he brings his writing one step further, while staying focused on the end result.
Raised in the ashes of the Dylans, Waits and Caves of this world, whom he was openly courting on Les Ombres Longues (Coyote Records, 2014), the musician distils their darkness to bring out an array of subdued lights.
Going further on his quest with the recent Cette chose qui cognait au creux de sa poitrine sans vouloir s’arrêter, the artist strives to reveals his true self even more. And if the subject matter is always heavy, exploring the little deaths along the way, he relies on contrasting music, this time leaving much more room to strings, piano and horns.
