Women of the Old : 4th Part - Louise Thibault

Passionate, inspiring and fascinating are the perfect words to describe the newest addition to our #WomenOfOldMontreal series: Louise Thibault. Louise Thibault has been a nutritionist for almost 30 years now, has a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree and a PhD in nutrition from l’Université Laval, and is a member of the Ordre Professionnel des Diététistes du Québec (OPDQ). She has also been a professor and researcher at McGill University since 1987, and is the author of three general interest books.

As someone who is enthusiastic about research, nutrition and brain chemistry, Louise has achieved tremendous accomplishments throughout her professional career. In her research she has uncovered significant links between poor nutrition and its effects on the brain, concentration and one’s lifestyle. This study not only revealed extremely interesting findings, but it also led her to publish her latest book, Manger pour garder un cerveau jeune, which focuses on the same subject as her research.

What is most captivating about Louise is her devotion to and passion for health, and her desire to share what she has learned with others, including her friends and students. Louise’s career is a testament to the time and dedication she has invested towards her life’s passion; a career that sometimes leaves little time for Louise to put aside for herself. This is where her love affair with the beauty of Old Montreal comes in, as this is where Louise likes to go to relax and recuperate. For Louise, there is nothing more refreshing than walking along the water near the clock tower, where she can people-watch, grab a coffee at one of her favourite spots, Olive & Gourmando, or attend a Vinyasa Flow class at Yoga Vieux-Montreal.

Louise’s advice for other women is simple: “Make yourself a priority; grant yourself the leading role in your life. Take care of yourself; not simply of what you see reflected back to you in the mirror, but especially of what you cannot see. As the adage goes, we are what we eat, and this could not be more true! There is nothing better you can do for yourself than to eat well and to stay active. You have one life to live, so live it to the fullest!” Louise lives by these words herself and hopes that all women can do the same.

Louise is an exceptional woman whose joie de vivre cannot be ignored. Her devotion to and interest in health and nutrition make her a true inspiration for all women of all ages. She adores Old Montreal, and it is thanks to her daily routine spent there that she remains inspired and can therefore inspire others through her knowledge, her art, and her passion.
